April 13th, 2016

Some of the Autumn Racing Carnival’s most exciting three-year-olds have been confirmed to line up at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday following the completion and release of the 2016 Frank Packer Plate field and barrier draw this afternoon.

Old North has fast stamped himself as a colt to follow and is one of two Godolphin runners alongside Asinara confirmed in the 2016 Frank Packer Plate field.

Capping his maiden racing preparation with success in the All Too Hard @ Vinery Maiden (1400m) on New Year’s Day, the Lonhro colt resumed this time for a similarly-impressive win in the Café Culture + Insitu BM67 (1400m) on March 2nd.

Making a competitive transition to black type racing when fourth in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) on March 2nd, Old North will carry winning form into the Frank Packer Plate after taking out the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) on March 26th.

Asinara ran a credible seventh in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) last time and will relish a step back in class in the 2016 Frank Packer Plate.

He’s Our Rokkii has returned to racing in slick form this time and will leave from the ideal barrier 6 in the Frank Packer Plate with Dwayne Dunn aboard.

Failing to completely live up to the hype during his maiden Australian campaign in spring, He’s Our Rokkii resumed this time for fourth in the Premier Signs BM70 (1300m) on February 10th before returning to winning form in the Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM70 (1600m) on March 7th.

Running a close second in the Premier Signs BM70 (1600m) a fortnight later, the Roc De Cambes gelding broke through for a maiden black type win in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) a fortnight ago.

Rong Door Reggie undoubtedly faced his biggest career test in the 2016 Frank Packer Plate but carries good form into the race and should receive a great run in transit from the rails draw.

Resuming this time for consecutive wins in a pair of minor races over 1500m, the Court Of Jewels gelding produced a gutsy late effort to finish fourth in the Mornington Guineas (1500m) a fortnight ago.

Hugh Bowman will return to the saddle of Torgersen in the 2016 Frank Packer Plate, who will leave from the ideal barrier 3.

Posting three wins and a further two minors through thirteen career starts, the Pins colt ran seventh in the Phar Lap Stakes on March 12th; progressing to a close second behind Old North in the Tulloch Stakes before failing to get the trip and tenth in the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m).
